CYBER-SOUND FUTURE RUSH!

ABOUT

Future Rush! is a project for my final year of college. Worth 30 credits out of 60 for the year, our task is to create a vertical slice of a game in any style. I wanted to make a game similar to Jet Set Radio by Sega and Bomb Rush Cyberfunk by Team Reptile. The game is focusing on fun movement mechanics and a stylised cyberpunk aesthetic. The design document is still in progress and will be shared once complete!

DEVELOPMENT

The game is being developed using Unity. To optimize efficiency and time management, I have incorporated motion capture for some of the animations, recognizing that hand-animating every element would be too resource-intensive . Collaborating once again with James Kelly, we are diligently crafting the audio and sound effects for the game. Our project management workflow is facilitated through Jira, allowing us to coordinate tasks seamlessly in a fully remote working environment. The project's rapid progress in terms of game mechanics is particularly exciting. Additionally, I look forward to the creative process of developing visual assets, as this aesthetic is one of my favourites, making the environment design an exciting and enjoyable endeavor.

DESIGN RATIONALE

DESIGN

My main influence when beginning the project was mainly aesthetics and colour palette. I wanted to ensure that the UI would fit into the game environment thematically. I chose white as the dominant colour, while the game's background was mostly shades of purple. To add to this, I made the UI background slightly transparent to still see the game world.
